Eurocell shares best practice with tomorrow's tradespeople

With continued concerns about skills shortages across construction, Eurocell is playing its part in supporting the development of tradespeople of the future.

The company has committed to undertaking a series of educational visits to Further Education colleges around the UK, designed to share best practice around window and door cavity closure specification and installation for the housebuilding market.

Each session involves up to 40 apprentices, many of whom will go on to have careers in the housebuilding sector. They will find out about the important role cavity closures play to ensure a high standard of thermal insulation on new builds, the variety of cavity closure designs on the market so the correct solution is fitted, and what to be aware of during the installation process.

With varied installation methods deployed by UK housebuilders, it is essential the fundamentals of cavity closure methodology are understood, and the Eurocell visits are designed to ensure apprentices gain a solid base of knowledge in this specialist area. Apprentices get to view product samples and view expert demonstrations around the technicalities of the installation process on site.

Dean Hawkins, New Build Business Development Manager, for Eurocell, says: “Investing time and resources to help those starting out in their careers in the construction trade is vital to support the sector’s future, so it’s great to be able to play our part and help apprentices grow their knowledge.

“Understanding best practice when it comes to cavity closure choice and installation, and its importance in delivering window and door thermal efficiency in new builds, is one of the many areas that can assist construction apprentices as they embark on their educational journey.

“We look forward to meeting more apprentices as our visits continue.”

The Eurocell Further Education college visits will continue across 2022.
