This is Champions Corner article by Molly Watt

Firstly I’d like to thank you for allowing me to introduce myself and the Molly Watt Trust at your awards ceremony at Doncaster Racecourse, it was a real pleasure.

It is hard to convey what we at Molly Watt Trust do in a short time but hope-fully I was able to provide you with the gist of our work.

For my first piece I wanted to speak more about the importance of accessibility and inclusion in an ever changing world.

Assistive technology is often the answer to accessing our world when sight, hearing and mobility are not what they used to be.

I am fortunate to have access to the technology I need to live my life, sadly many in my position do not

My personal journey living with a both progressive and life changing condition like usher syndrome (deafblindness) has highlighted the real need for change in everyday life and whatever industry we are in we all need to make changes for long term good.

Whilst the condition I live with is rare, my challenges are comparable to the largest growing community – the ageing.

I spend as much time as I can with my Grandfather, he is very special to me. I wrote a blog about him a while ago that demonstrates his needs as similar to mine. He has no disability, he’s just getting old and all things being well we will all get there, we all need to make changes now to make life easier long term:

In my role as an Accessibility and Usability Consultant I am able to raise awareness of accessible need and solutions in many areas, it is my intention to write about all different areas each month.
