Morley Glass backs a winner as Leeds Knights take ice hockey’s National Division title
The Leeds Knights ice hockey team, who Morley Glass have proudly supported this season as their first-ever title sponsor, have been crowned the Planet Ice NIHL National Division Champions with four matches to spare following a 4-2 win at Telford Tigers.
The rapidly developing team, who play at Planet Ice Leeds close to Leeds United’s Elland Road stadium, affectionately known as ‘The Castle’, have taken the league by storm this season and put the city back on the map for the sport as a result. Morley Glass was introduced to Leeds Knights in 2021 by a mutual friend and ever since their partnership has gone from strength to strength.
Warwick Andrews, Managing Director of Leeds Knights added: “Winning the league title with four games to spare shows just how well the team has performed this season and we are absolutely thrilled. It has also been an amazing season off the ice, largely due to the support of Morley Glass who have been hugely supportive of what we are creating here. Ian and the team at Morley Glass have been a pleasure to work with throughout the season and we hope to continue our partnership moving forward.”
The NIHL National Division is a professional ice hockey league formed of 11 teams nationwide and is the second tier of ice hockey in the UK. Leeds Knights entered the league after the Covid pandemic, following the opening of the new 2000-capacity Planet Ice Arena in 2019.
Leeds Knights are one of the many community and environmental organisations who benefit from the support of Morley Glass, including through its GreenVision scheme. These beneficiaries range from local ‘village in bloom’ groups and primary school projects, to a dance school which provides professional training scholarships to children from disadvantaged communities.
